My brother from Cali came over, I spent time with my nieces and nephews, and I had so much fun with my family and friends.

The only thing that ruined my whole break was Office V. Something ( I can't read his signature).
He pulled me over for going 40 mph over the speed limit.
That sounds so much better than saying "He pulled me over for going 100 mph on the C. Exp. Way that has a 60 mph speed limit." He said that he had been following me with his retarded flashing blue lights for 4 MILES! I didn't know this! He thought that I was being evasive about the whole thing and I admitted to him that I was'nt paying attention to his lights but to the road. He was pissed. He cited me for three reasons: No driver's license ( I told him that my wallet was at a friend's house :D), No insurance ( that was at my friend's house too), and speeding.
MY TAXES PAY YOUR SALARY!! DAMN, LEAST YOU COULD DO WAS GIVE ME A WARNING SINCE IT WAS MY FIRST OFFENSE!
Dallas County pretty much owns my salary right now because I have yet to tell my parents about the whole thing.
I think I'll flee to California with my brother or Mexico with my aunts and uncles.

Damn, it's been forever since I've added any new entries to my blog!

This semester has started and in less than a month it's about to end! I'm planning on doing my best for my last exams. I've got a paper due in less than two weeks and I don't know how the hell to started it off. I usually don't have problems with writing papers but this paper has gotten me worried. I've got to look at a set of data over the tolerance that people have towards Bush,Clinton,Hilary, or Gore and in a detailed (5-7 pages worth) paper determine who the American public tolerates more/less and why. Basically, I have to look at numbers and analyze what they mean. I can understand like a paragraph for something like that but my prof wants 5-7 pages of pure content,no graphs or pictures, of how those numbers correlate to the publics opinion and acceptance with B,C,H,&Gore. These next two weeks are going to be the worst weeks ever.

On the bright side, my sister's fiance hooked my up with a car!!!
It's a Celica that has a little trouble and it's a standard (which I'm not too familiar with driving).
It's under the circumstances that I get my driver's license and it's all mine. WHOOP!!

Damn Cowboys lost to the (shit my mind went blank),anyways, they lost and so did A&M!
It was a sad Thanksgiving break when we talk about sports other than that I had a great time home.

Gotta go.

Just a recap

My tooth freaking hurts!! I had it pulled out a few days ago because it was becoming really painful to eat anything.
I'm no longer working at William's Chicken so I've been chilling for the past couple of days and that's been able to happen because I've been poppin' painkillers like Skittles. Don't worry I've been taking just one every 6 hours!!
I've been staying at my sister's place in Garland these last couple of days and plan on staying here and getting my stuff from my brother's place in Oak Cliff until I go back to College Station.
I'm sort of ready to go back and then I'm not just because of that fact that I'll be starting classes on the 29th. NO 8 O'CLOCKS THIS SEMESTER but I do have one at 9:10.
I'll be able to spend time with the folks since I won't have to fill in 75-100 hours during the week at work anymore. The nephews are back in school and my sister has ridiculously talked my parents into letting her go to Molina in Dallas while she resides in my sister place in Garland. I found a job and it sucks because it pays 5.50 an hour, I feel exploited,I've realized that people can get a little ghetto when it comes to their chicken, it's a damn chicken place and I can't even munch on a damn leg because the owner is greedy with his food, and we moved so now I live with my brother in Dallas by Wynewood and my parents and my little sister are in Garland rooming with my other sister. At work, most of the time I'll be closing and because of that I have to leave around midnight for 4 weekdays and on Saturdays until 2 AM. That's not even the worst part because I have to wear blue pants with a buttoned up white shirt AND A HAIR NET!!! I hate the hair net!!! I feel like I'm in one of those prison movies like Bound by Honor when they're in the cafeteria wearing their hairnets.
-The bright side is that my sister in law gave birth to another girl making it three girls for my brother, my other sister will have a daughter due in late August and it'll be her first daughter, my dad FINALLY came back from Florida(I missed him so much),I get to spend more time with my nieces, my coworkers are ridiculously funny and make working for Mr. Miller so much more fun, and I GET PAID ON THE 20TH OF THIS MONTH!!!

How Did You Get Here!!

Listening to Joseph Arthur-In the Sun
This weekend was pretty fun. Saturday I had the day off from work to go with CAMAC to Big Event. Big Event is a day where students from A&M get to participate with the residents of Bryan/College Station and help them out with community service type assistance. We were assigned two projects. One of them was to paint a house and the other well... I still don't know. We were dropped off that the house and the rest of CAMAC went to the other house and we stood there for awhile figuring out what exactly what we were suppose to do but the paper given to Fernando didn't specify anything. We knew who the owner was but she apparently was renting the house out to someone else and that person wasn't there to tell us. So, after awhile of standing we took off to the other house and helped them paint the house. After painting and going back to see if the guys showed up we took off to go eat some MEXICAN FOOD!! MMM. I was in an awful dilemma at the restuarant because I didn't know whether to get the Camaron Al Ajo or the Tacos Al Carbon. After awhile I finally decided on the camaron and was greatly disappointed!! It was really salty!! I ended up eating the rice, my salad and 4 camarones.
Since painting a house can be strenuous work, I came back to my room and fell asleep for 5 hours and woke up to notice that I had missed a couple of calls. To my amazement, after listening to my voicemail, I realized that Joe-Nathan was in town from Galveston. I called him up and because I didn't know the number he called me from, he decided to harass me over the phone and I was like "WTF!!" and he started laughing and finally told me it was him. He tried to call me earlier to see if I might want to go to the movies with him but I called back a little late. He was only going to be here for the weekend and it was already Saturday and Sunday I had to work. I called him up around 930ish so I figured "Crap, I'm not going to be able to see him :(" and he mentioned that he was going to go to Halo ( a club here in Bryan) but they were going to go around 11-12ish and I was aware that I had to wake up at 645 am. I thought about it for a second and told him that I would hook up with him later. I had never been there and was slightly aware that it was a club that gay/lesbian people got to but I was impressed at the attendance but Joe was disappointed. It's College Station!! Joe, Robert, and I danced the night away and had so much fun. Flippin' Joe swiftly unbuttoned one of the buttons of my blouse exposing part of my bra and I was greatly impressed and I complemented Joe for it. I quickly buttoned my blouse. I will always remember singing to Deborah Cox's How did you get here remix with Joe. Right before we left, I had to use the restroom and noticed that they were unisex bathrooms so I figured it might have multiple stalls and I had a little trouble with the knob and jerked it a little until I finally aggressively opened the door. I realized why I had trouble when I noticed that there was this guy using the restroom. At least I found out it was a single use restroom but I told the guy multiple times that I was sorry for that and he was like" Uhh,that's ok". So I waited until he came out and made sure that the door was locked.
I got back to my room at 245 am and crashed out until 645 am. I got up to go to work at Sbisa. Later that day Joe-Nathan and Robert showed up to eat at Sbisa. They got to see me in my green Sbisa shirt and hat. Robert took off and Joe stayed around to talk for awhile until he had to go to the Commons to meet some other folk. We talked to each other and updated each other. It's weird because I was talking to Denise and Michelle the night before and told them that I missed Joe-Nathan and the next day he calls me up.
After work, I went to sleep at 4 pm and didn't wake up until 615 am this morning!! I had the best night of sleep but still had the nerve to take a nap after my poltical science class. It was only for 2 hours because I had to wake up for biology.
Ahh, I can't wait for summer to come around and we can all meet up each other up.

Go Meteorology Team!!

Guess who made it to the next level of the intramural softball finals?!?!
WE DID!!
It's really cool because last week we had a game and won by default and were notified that we made it to the semifinals!
All of us were exicted about the whole thing until we stayed awhile and this other team had wanted to play a game. We decided to play with them and although it was a scrimmage we were beaten pretty bad. It wasn't until this Wednesday that we found out who were up against. We noticed that most of the players on the opposing team looked familiar and I noticed this one girl with huge calves and it occured to me that that they were the same girls that creamed us last week.
We started the game pretty slow with the opposing team scoring two runs but we came back with some really nice "D" and started becoming more aggressive with the bat. I think 3 girls hit homeruns and Karen had a grandslam. It was awesome! Robert, our coach, put me at 1st base which I was completely unprepared for but last season at Sunset I learned quite a bit from Coach Baker's confrontations with my little sister. She would tell her what she was skrewing up and how to fix it and I would just listen to her advice because I would try and help my sister when we would go back home. However, I freaking regret it!! Valerie is playing at MOLINA (NOOOOO!!, Betrayed by my own sister) as their 1st base WOMAN.
I've gotten the hang of it and Robert thinks that I'm doing great but I wouldn't be as great if I didn't have my team mates.
It feels so great to be back in the diamond and part of a team.
Although most of them are grad students in the field of meteorology except Casey she's an undergrad too but also in meteorology. I'm the only non-meteorolgy major.
We beat the team 11-3!! We're qualified for the next level but I found out from Robert that the game was scheduled for next Tuesday!! Argh, flipping Sbisa and work!
Robert said with the current signs that it'll probably rain next Tuesday and I quote,"Yeah, you can tell it's gonna rain. The signs are all there."
I told him that no it was not possible to tell that it was gonna rain. I'm not a meteorology major but hopefully it does rain or I'm going to have to be "creative" when I tell my manager that I can't be at work on Tuesday.
What?!?! I can't miss the playoff game!!
Cross your fingers so that it can rain next Tuesday!
I wanna play too. Or, I can get the day off and bring my A game.
~Sigh~ I love softball.
Aww, there's a 30% chance of rain.CRAP. It's like Mother Nature is getting me back for that receipt I left on the floor. What?!?! I was trying to throw it away in the trash can when a gust of wind blew it out of my hand and was swept away. By the time I could run and get it was too far to attempt to get it. You would have done the same!!

Call me an IDIOT!!

The last couple of days have been a sad attempt of me trying to study for my math exam. I didn't get to that point of "I need to study for this or it's death" until last night! I stayed up until 6:08 AM studying/downloading music and decided I needed a nap. I set my alarm to wake me up at 6:30 AM so that I can get back to studying.
I WOKE UP AT 8:25 AM!!
My math exam started at 8! I was so exhausted that I was even thinking "Screw it. I don't care as long as I can get some sleep" but right after that all I could think of is Mickey's inifinite remarks about the stupidity it must have taken for me to take that measure.
So I got up and went to Professor's Axelson 9:10 lecture and had asked her if I could take the exam then and she just asked my why I didn't show up earlier and I told her the truth. You know when you do something at home that is completely out of line and your mother gives you that stare?
Well Professor Axelson gave me hers and told me not to let it happen again.
I took my math exam and I think I did well but I'm not sure. I felt like I was working the problems correctly but who knows.
Now it's biology's turn to deprive me of my sleep.
By the way, I met this guy this morning and he completely threw me off.
I was in a haste when he stops me and asks what year I had graduated and my immediate response was "Geez, do I look that old to be confused for an Aggie Alumni?" Apparently, he noticed my Sunset sweats that I was wearing and mentioned that he was from the graduating class of 1998. I was still confused because he didn't specify what school he was class of '98' but he mentioned that he lived on 10th Street and Hampton so that rang a bell and had me thinking of Oak Cliff:10th and Hampton:Near Sunset HS:My purple sweats! Suddenly I went from bewilderment to excitement at finding another Aggie/Bison. He told me that in the time he has been in Aggieland that he has not met another Sunset graduate but I explained to him that Aggieland has a couple of bison herding the plains of higher education. I didn't get his name because I was frantically trying to get to Axelson's exam. Yay!! for Sunset moving on up!
Summer is only 18 more days(not inluding the weekends).
I want summer to be here already but that means right before I can start celebrating, I have to go through the process of cramming once again for finals!! It's a win-lose situation but I'm going to try my best to study for my finals in advance so that it can turn out to be a win-win situation.
Wish me luck and goodluck with the rest your finals.

Working Sucks

Today I got to mop the mens restroom!! Whoop-da-flipping-do!
We were lectured last week by our manager about slacking off. I'm not going to lie but I have noticed that I've been walking, cleaning, wiping, mopping, sweeping, even eating slower at Sbisa. My manager had us sit down at a table right after our shift and told us that he was noticing that most of us were taking a little longer than usual to clean up our stations. Technically we're suppose to clock out at 8:30 but lately like today, well today was a slow ass day(clocked out at 9:10), we've been clocking out at 8:45-9:00 pm.
I was amazed at all that needed to be done today.
I had to finish the drink line in record time because my manager had a set limit for me so I was running around everywhere. I couldn't take the lid off the coffee container today and it was creating this rage inside of me that I felt that I was going to pick the thing up and throw it on the floor and beat it with my wash cloth. There's never any available buckets and wash clothes in the chemical room and it drives me insane because I loose time looking for them than actually cleaning the line but fortunately Rico, one of the full-timers, hooked me up with one. He told me that he hides a wash cloth in his locker every night!! See how almost impossible it is to locate one!
Before I started the drink line, I had to count the money from the register and I've been getting quicker and accurate when I count. However, I was off by 15 cents and I counted and recounted like the ballots in Florida in 2000 and I couldn't figure it out! After counting, my manager told me to clean the drink line and clean the girls restroom.
I was cleaning the drinkline for awhile when my manager yells across the Market and tells me "Stephanie. Are you gonna be done in 5 minutes?!"
What the hell was I suppose to say "No,give me 10 more minutes" or "What? I can't hear you." just to add additional time? So, I said yes and ran to the dishroom looking for the handles that go to the milk dispensers. I was able to finish the line at 8:05 which is a freaking Guinness World Record for me. I ran to the girls bathroom with my bucket surgically attached to my arm and went off to the restroom. I just wiped it down, threw the trash, cleaned the mirrors, and sweeped.
For some reason after working at Sbisa for awhile, I instinctively knew that a mop was going to be beneficial especially since it'll be one of those rare moments where you don't have to walk all over Sbisa just to find one. I was in luck because I was able to obtain the last one in the chemical room where I was at and noticed that Robert was mopping and had asked if people were already spot mopping and he didn't know exactly. I kind of drifted off trying to look for my manager when he asks me if I could mop the guys restrooom. DAMN!! was my first response and told him "sure". Not very glad about the whole thing but the only funny thing about it was when my other manager and another employee walked in perplexed when they saw me mopping the guys restroom.
After that, I began spot mopping the joint and my manager was complaining about how late it was and that we should have been done and crap like all of us were glad to be there.
So far, I've been cut by the meat slicer, cut myself slicing a piece of bread, burned by a pan of chocolate chips cookies, and I thinks that it. Better knock on wood and hope nothing else happens. Knock.Knock.
Work definitely sucks but it's making sure my parents don't have to worry about sending me money and I feel a little, just a LITTLE, bit more grown up. I can pay my phone bill now!!!
Whoever read all of this must either have been incredibly bored or you truly do care about what's going on and I want to thank you but I know you were bored. DON'T LIE TO ME!!!
I"M WATCHING YOU!! You know that breeze at night? THAT'S ME!!! Thought I might give you something extra since you did read it all the way...ok..you can..stop...reading..STOP!!

I've finally finished it!!

I was reading this book by Jorge Ramos called The Latino Wave and I loved every word of it.
He wrote about the significance of the Latino vote especially since the 2000 Census indicated that hispanics are the largest minority. It took me awhile to finish the book because I was either studying or not studying and didn't feel like reading it. As I read more and more of the issues confronted by latinos, I couldn't help but make time to read it and laziness no longer became an issue.
Ramos mentioned that latinos could not be classified as a single group because of the diversity within the group. You could not talk about immigration and amnesty to a mexican like you would talk to a puerto rican about the status of puerto rico or Fidel Castro's regime to a cuban. The differences between the the nationalities have different issues that are confronted by their specific origin. Ramos also stated the latinos were never going to assimilate into the "melting pot" that the United States takes so much pride in because of the different cultures, pride in one's culture, and the recent mass of immigration. He called it more like a salad where you can distinguish the different ingredients but are all part of the same dish. Unlike the melting pot where everything is melted together without any form of distinction.
The presidential elections were going to be affected by the latino vote but because different latin nationalities have different political views, it's difficult for latinos as a whole to agree to one candidate and that affects the effect latinos have during the election. What was disappointing was that Ramos noted that the Republican party did in fact spend more money on trying to get reach of the latino vote. Their method of obtaining the latino vote did not include talking about amnesty, reformation of the Castro regime, giving Puerto Rico the status they wanted or intervening in the corruption and oppression in Central America but as Harry Pachon phrased it "taco and sombrero politics".
This method only required for the Republican Presidential Candidate,Dubya, to learn spanish, eat some tacos, throw on a sombrero and claim that he was for the latino population. He aired campaign commercials with him speaking in spanish, had signs in spanish, and held interviews with the spanish media. Although George Bush had created a new arena for politicians to become aware of, his true intentions were not to give us a voice in Capitol Hill but a vote for his party.
Another disappointment was Don Francisco's (ya know who he is well my latino buddies do) experience with the Democratic Party in the 2000 election. Don Francisco made several attempts at interviewing Vice President Gore but failed because Gore had other circumstances that he had to attend to. His busy agenda only made the spanish media feel second rate and unimportant. Bush on the other hand was gregarious with the spanish media and had no problem with having interviews left and right. He had an advantage because as an elected governor of Texas he knew the effect that the latino vote placed. Although Gore finally was interviewed in an Airport before his departure which made it seem like "it's now or never" conditions, the potential latino voters never had a chance to hear his agenda.
Other interesting points in the book included the lack of representation of elected officials in Washington, latinos in the war, undocumented latinos who would risk their lives just to be closer to becoming an American, different political perspectives based on where you come from, emphasis on an agenda that could keep latinos of all races to unify, the topics are unlimited and Ramos sheds light on each one.
I bought this book because I had a narrow idea of what latinos expected but my ideas were limited to the confrontations felt by Mexican-Americans. Now I see that being latino isn't being Mexican but also includes Salvadoreans, Guatamalans(BAMA) Chileans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Columbians, Peruvians, Argentinos, Venezuelans, Ecuadoreans, Bolivians, Paraguayans, Uruguayans, Panamans, Nicaraguans,Costa Ricans, Hondurans, and Dominicans.
We've all got different issues but we're all one big latino familia.

I'm Never Gonna Sleep!!

ARGHHHH!!!
I had so much time preparing for this project that it's absolutely idiotic that I'm doing it right now!! Crap! Crap! Crap! I wish I were in bed right now but because of my inherent retardedness (if that's a word), laziness, and super power procrastination abilities I am sitting here reading and trying to fill up the sea of whiteness on my paper without a horizon to look forward as a sign of completion. BAH!! If procrastination were small, harmless, had a lack of defense mechanisms such as releasing a toxin or poison or any kind of biting, poking, pinching, or sharp body parts THEN would I crush it with my thumb and index finger!!!!! You are evil, possessive, luring, an outlet for the difficult, the reason that I only get 3-6 hours of sleep at night, and why I am posting on my blog when I'm supposed to be working on my paper!! You're also VERY insidious that you've taken over RIGHT NOW!!!! I'm never going to get any sleep!! It's been awhile since I've last posted.
I've got two exams next week and I'm not putting much effort on studying for them. One of the test is math and I've got to really focus on that course and the other one is biology. CRAP!! I wish someone would hold a gun directly at my temple just so that I can start. It's awful that I need a gun pointed at me just to motivate myself to study. Maybe I can get my roommate to threaten me with my pepper spray.
Speaking of which, my roommate is a freaking genius! We had this problem with the microwave a while back where the microwave would turn off when we cooked something and when that occured all of my electronic appliances would shut off too. My roommate started to wonder why it was doing this and all I suggested as a solution was for her to tell me when she was going to microwave something so that I could turn off my computer and make sure that I saved anything important. That was definitely the "I don't feel like fixing it so let's take the easy way" solution. However, my roommate was not going to accept that solution so she started thinking and thinking and she finally came up with a solution. She suggested we should move our stuff around so that the appliances were around the outlets. The floor plan doesn't make any sense. I, on the other hand felt disinclined to involve any phyiscal actions to take place and emphatically reiterated my solution. Hsihou came up with another solution that had minor physical actions and absolutely "out of the box" intelligence because there was no way I could have thought of her solution. Now we have the microwave on a different multiplier and my stuff in another outlet. No more worries about my stuff shuttingdown but unfortunately our microwave still turns off when we use it. We think that it might be the circuit breaker and that the amount of electrical energy is too much for it.
I took my politcal science exam this week and got an 80 on it! Now I need to make a grade >90 to make a B in the course. I can do it. I've got to really focus these last couple of weeks just so that I can get the grades I'd like but I know it takes more than just wanting.
I'm looking for jobs for the summer already and I found this cool place in the Bishop's Art District in Oak Cliff called Brooklyn. I checked out their website and found out that they are a jazz cafe with live performances and that they were in need of waitstaff and a bartender. I called one of the owners and I told her that I was a college student, currently I'm living in College Station, and had asked if she was going to be accepting applications for the summer. She told me that I could send her my resume and that she would get back to me about the job. I worked on my resume over monster.com and followed their suggestions and was able to complete it yesterday and send it to her. She seemed like a very nice person over the phone and I hope I can score that job.
Now it's time to come to a close because I have to go to work. ~Sigh~

Health Hazard My Ass!!

Yesterday I had to attend work and just thinking about working made me irritable. I have to make up the money I used up for Spring Break some way. I was scheduled to be cashier that day and I was fine with it until my manager came up to me and told me something that still perplexes and creates a growing rage within me. Most of you know that I own a pair of ragged jeans which I will never throw away because they are a prized possession of mine. My jeans have always caused me to get glares from people, made fun of, and violent and physical attempts from people to remove them without my consent. NEVER have I had someone tell me that my jeans were a HEALTH HAZARD!! My manager came over to the register and like always when it's not busy, I sit back and lean my knees against the counter. She tells me if I could STOP placing my knees against the counter because they were a "potential health hazard"!! 1) I am no where remotely near the food line. 2) I don't have a flesh eating bacteria that specifically targets the knee area which would create an unhygienic working environment. 3) When I do swipe the student's card, I sit upright WITH my knees under the counter. 4) No one uses their card to eat their food with so that my "germs" would contaminate their food AND 5) I wash my clothes and myself.
What the exact reason was I will never know but if there were a specific reason for that she could have just been honest with me instead of creating some inexplicable reason such as the health hazard issue.

Unfortunately I am back in Aggieland and back to 8 o'clock classes, working, and exams. Spring Break was so much fun!! I got to hang out with Enrique,Clorissa, and Isabel and some of their buddies from their high school. We decided to take a road trip to Dallas,Kileen(to see Enrique's sister and the handsome Maurice), Austin, Corpus Christi, and South Padre and then back to College Station. There were so many laughs during the break and so many memories that emanated from just one week together.
We headed off for Austin on Monday night and stayed at Clorissa's house (YAY for the Aggie network!!). We were in Austin from Monday night till Thursday morning. Oh yeah, our experience with the infamous 6th Street was horrific!! Coincidently, St. Patricks day was going to happen that Thursday and we believe that because of that we were not being admitted to the places on 6th Street. I guess the bars realized that by admitting underage students in their clubs would cause too much of a risk considering the holiday and their limited surveillance of these underage students. The night was disappointing but we managed to have fun either way. We WALKED to the Capitol and took pictures, walked along 6th Street, discovered (of all liberal cities) that Austin only has ONE gay club, hanged out at The Union on t.u.'s campus, got free t-shirts, realized and made fun of the fact that to truly experience Austin life you need to be 21 (2 more years and it's Austin or bust)! I lost my wallet at this place called Kerbey Lane which by the way has the crappiest hot chocolate which my friend Clorissa experienced and made us vocally aware of it, we went to the Maroon 5 concert, freezed our asses most of the time we were there, I got to take a picture with Meatwad,Master Shake, and Frylock (Aqua Teen Hunger Force), ate at the Alamo Draft house which by the way try The Godfather, it's the best pizza ever, and enjoyed the time I spent with my fellow Ags.
I'm going to finish off this post soon because Maria is rushing me but I'll write back with the rest of the break!!

Let's see where do I start?
These past two weeks have been incredibly tough but like they say when the tough gets going the going gets tough. I've taken my political science test and got a 78 when I knew that I could have done better, I know that I passed my health planning systems test but I didn't go to class to get my score and I know that I didn't passed my math test. I hate the fact that I've been accepting these mediocre accomplishments. I hate that I say that I hate math when in I really hate studying for it. I found that out when I was studying for my math exam and was working on inequalities, the simplex method, and venn diagrams that it wasn't as hard as I was making them to be because I lacked the motivation to study.
I went to this program that was offered by the Student Counseling Services here on campus that was about time management and procrastination and the instructor told us that we should treat school like a full time job. That analogy struck me because I work on campus and I would NEVER ditch work because I didn't want to wake up!! Since math is at 8 AM, it's usually the class that I've frequently ditched simply because I didn't want to get up!! Come Saturday and Sunday, I FORCE myself to wake up around 6:45 AM so that I can clock in at 7 AM.
I wake up for work because I feel that if I don't wake up that that's it and I'm inevitably going to get fired. No one likes to get fired!! If I miss class it's not like my professor is going to call me in her office and tell me "You're FIRED!" What's worse is that the consequences of not attending class means that I won't get the hours I need for that class, it'll look horrible on my transcript, I'd have to take the class again, the class will affect my GPR which will affect my scholarships and their requirements, I could lose my scholarships, I could start a dominoe effect that will continue to be a pattern with my other classes and ultimately drop out of college which will be beyond disheartening and become a part of my life to tell my familia that their only daughter who went to a university was forced to drop out. I don't know if it's because I'm afraid of succeeding because it's definitely not being afraid of failing because I've had my share of failures. Is it that I feel that college isn't for me but working full-time at McDonalds at minimum wage the entire time I could have been in college isn't something I look forward to waking up. Maybe it's the procrastination that has chiseled into my life and I feel like it's impossible to change?
I think of my family and it hurts to wonder what it would be like if I told them that I no longer wanted to pursue a degree. My mom told me a couple of days ago that my father LOVED to tell his friends that he has five kids. They follow up with "Where are they now?" and he tells them "Bueno, tengo una hija que es una supervisora en su trabajo con dos niños, un hijo en los Marines y es un sargento, un hijo que es un buen trabajador con muchas ganas y tiene dos hijas, (this is where I felt so much joy) una hija en la Universidad de Texas A&M, y las mas chica que todavia esta en la high school."[That he has a daughter who is a supervisor at her job and has two kids, a son in the Marines who is a sargeant, a hard working son who has so much to offer with two daughters, a daughter in Texas A&M University, and the youngest one still in high school] My dad is who I often think of and his past to come to a country that held so many possibilities for him. For him that dream of coming to this country was as simple as crossing the Rio Grande but it was much more complicated than just swimming over!! He had to cross a river in spite of the fact that he really didn't know how to swim, was incredibly horrified of drowning, had to walk a long way just to make it to Dallas, had to sleep out in the open, and was consciously aware that if the border control caught him that day that he would, without hesitation, try again. I don't ask him many questions about the time he crossed over but he'll tell me that he had to eat a snake once just to have something in his stomach. Being the "Whatever dad, spoiled american daughter that preferred to sound white when speaking in spanish than sounding mexican when speaking in english" daughter, I rolled my eyes and began watching my American sitcom, munching on some American chips, sipping some American fruit juice without remotely thinking that because of his ambition, his vision of a better life, his prosperity, and his ability to tell his family back home in Mexico that he MADE IT!!!, I never appreciated his struggle to provide our family with everything.
My mother often tells the family that I got my intelligence from her side of the family but as far as I've gotten, it wasn't as much as my intelligence that got me here to Texas A&M but the drive to succeed from my father. I want to succeed here and prove to everyone that it's MexiCAN not MexiCAN'T. LOL. (that was pretty corny but essentially true)
It's really late but I felt like I needed this moment to express myself and now I've got to get back to studying. It's 3:30 am and I have an exam at 12:40 pm which means that today will be an all-nighter and the ride back home will be my time to sleep. Wish me luck and have a safe Spring Break.

NEW UPDATE!!

Today I went to the restroom after my math class and noticed that someone wrote "Goes to show that 3 million Americans lack a brain" in response to an earlier entry that said something about the 3 milllion people that voted for Bush instead of Kerry. I thought so but when I graduated from high school I thought all that would be something that high school kids would think of doing. NOPE!! I went to the bathroom after my biology lab and started to read GRAFFITI! Although it was graffiti, it was graffiti at a higher caliber. People were talking about their differences in politics (BTHO of Bush, Kerry the Fairy, Kerry should have won!, Apparently 3.3 million didn't think so!), religious passages, and I'm sitting there like I'm reading the damn opinion page from the local paper. Since I have discovered this new way to voice one's differences, I will make it a habit to scope the restrooms on campus and give you an update on any graffiti.

Say it with me!!! I was doing my homework, which by the way is due tonight by 11:59 pm, I was on the last question at 11:36 pm and I submitted my answer and the website crashed! Why it crashed? I DON'T KNOW!! All I DO know is that that homework assignment will not be counted for when it comes up to my final grade. What happened to the good ol'days when a teacher gave you a homework assignment ON PAPER?!! That way, you can personally turn it in and confirm that you did the assignment and turned it in. But nooooooo, technology entro como pedro a su casa and took over. You might be wondering,"Why didn't you do the assignment earlier?". I tried to do my homework for the past 2 days and the website would exit the browser after trying to log in. I called the folks from the website and they told me what to do and I followed their instructions in spite of technological terminology like "java", "configuration", and"installment corruption". After about half an hour of perplexity, grief, and minor chats about Texas weather as opposed to the weather in Oregon( the woman I was speaking to was from Ore. and while something was being installed, I think it was called Java, we conversed about the differences in our states climates), I could FINALLY log into the website. Why didn't I do it then? I had to go to work. After work, I sat and looked at some of the videos the professor has online to work some of the problems before I did the homework assignment. Now, I'm just sitting here muttering incoherent phrases at my computer and taking in the misery but valuable lesson I learned today: Do your homework at least 2-3 days in advance that way if it crashes, I can have a couple of days to resolve the problem.ARRRRRRGGGHHH!! Sorry, I had to let that out.

BTHO of TEXAS!!

Argh! Me and My Stubborn Ways

Well, inevitably I tend to learn things the hard way. I figured that because I knew what my math professor was talking about in class, maybe, I would recapture those moments of comprehension when it came to my quizzes. Uuuuhhh, no. Nada. Nothing relevant to math ever seemed to pop inside my head when I was working those problems. So, I will now become more stringent instead of lenient when it comes to math and its unmerciful ways with me. Oh yeah, I unconsciously missed my math class this morning, literally, I was unconcious and didn't wake up when I needed to get up for class. I need to go meet up with a tutor to help me with the problems she did today. I know if I put enough effort in math that I can amend my mathematical discrepancies. AGGIE SOFTBALL SEASON STARTS THIS FRIDAY!! YAY!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FIRST PITCH OF THE SEASON. It would be, for lack of a better word, SWEET! if I could play with them. That is my ultimate goal here on Aggieland and to graduate of course. I am currently trying to get into shape and planning to go to the batting cages so that I can improve my stamina and batting before trying out for the team next year. It's too late to tryout this season because they usually have tryouts early in the fall. I'm gonna go to the game and scope the catcher to get an idea where I am at compared to her. Gotta go.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://aggiestivo.blogspot.com/2005/02/argh-me-and-my-stubborn-ways.html' title='Argh! I've got biology, health planning systems and American National Government to worry about too. I have also started to work at Sbisa again (sigh). I hate waking up at 6 am on saturday and sunday, get up and go to work a 7 hour shift. The good thing is that I was recently promoted to CASHIER and I get more money just for sitting down and swiping cards!! I still don't know how much more it's going to be but it is sure for hell going to make a difference to the 6.57 I get paid now. Well, I may consider taking the final for the class since he gave us the option of whether we wanted to take it or not. Because he really hasn't been too clear on what our current grades are in his class, I may take his exam just to be safe. Hesby is an unpredictable character. I took the final for my animal science lab and I feel pretty confindent about it. Now, all I have to worry about is my geography exam, my online homework for chemistry, and my chemistry exam. Ugh, I don't feel like spending my reading day for studying. I know the university implemented the "Reading days" and cancelled classes on the last couple of days so that we can study but that's what I have been doing. I just want to stay in bed all day and not worry about anything else. How am I supposed to lay in bed and enjoy the day staring aimlessly at the sink when finals have already made their presence on campus? There's no point! I will attempt to stare at the sink while laying down but beneathe my little moment of freedom, I will drag myself out of bed and slave all day preparing myself for the last couple of finals. Because of finals, I have replaced (for a limited time) water, mankind's essential drink to survive, with a college kid's number one necessity to accomplish an all nighter before that big exam: coffee or in my case expresso. Mmmmm, the warm soothing taste of insomnia, er, expresso. I have to get back and study.

The Days That Come Ahead

Two exams down and three more to go before I can and hopefully go home sanely. I had my chem lab exam this Tuesday and I got 27.5 points out of thirty ( not too shabby) and I took my animal science exam today which I think I did pretty well on. Our professor had the bright idea of giving us a take home exam on Wednesday and a final exam today. I spent some time voraciously flipping through my notes and reading and rereading my text to get the best score I could for the take home exam. I went to the exam review yesterday for animal science and some of the students surreptitiously asked the professor some of the questions on the take home insisting that they hadn't the slightest idea what the question meant. I on the other hand listened and jotted down or should I say "corrected"my mistake and because the professor knows what he is talking about and displaced my answer for his. This week has been somewhat a breeze compared to the following weeks that are to come because I've got my chemistry exam which is cumulative, my geography exam and I know my locations but I haven't been reading the chapters like should, and I've got my animal science lab which has introduced me to the complexity of the reproduction of cattle, horses, swine, poultry, and sheep. I also have to know about the nutritional needs of an animal, what types of food they can and can't digest based on whether they're ruminants or not, what are the different functions of each stomach in a cattle, etc. I've got a cornucopia of notes and pages from my books sitting on my desk awaiting my ravenous appetite to cram all of the information in them so that I can go into my exams lavished with formulas, definitions, laws, and capitals. Wish me sanity and oh yeah, luck.

Hello Stranger

HOWDY! It's been 1..2..3..16 days since I last posted anything. Not much has happened in the past weeks. I've just been busy with studying and keeping up with my classes. I did read about Howard Stern and his 500 million dollar deal with Sirius. How can someone be paid that much money for being an ass? That can't be the "American Dream" most people dream about when thinking about the United States. Here we are with the largest debt in history and Howard Stern just signed a 5 year contract for 500 million dollars. By the time his contract expires in 2011, the United States will still be paying the outrageous deficit and not only that but Congress is considering in passing a bill that will extend the borrowing limit by 800 billion dollars (The Dallas Morning News). I guess many people can live off of being ignorant and the president being one of them. For someone who talked about morals and ethics during the election, he sure has lied to too many people to obtain his position.

I Can't Believe It!

What the @#$%?! FREAKIN CRAP!!! First we lose to BAYLOR, Bush is RE-ELECTED, and we lose our FIRST HOME GAME to Oklahoma. To many, the loss to Oklahoma may have seemed inevitable but we had the lead! The facts: 1. Baylor is not even a ranked team and the beat us. 2.Bush lies to the American people and still manages to get re-elected. 3. We had the lead by TWO touchdowns against number TWO Oklahoma. Compared to last years score, 77-0, to a 42-35 loss, our football team endured and persevered a great game. Reality is becoming more and more bewildering and harsh. What's the world coming to? I don't know. Let's just hope that we learn from these disastrous atrocities, cope with them, and make a difference. Let's just try again next year and thank the Constitution for limiting the president to two terms. Despite that I filled a new registration card early in the school year and didn't want a change of address but to be registered here at Brazos County. I called and she told me that my ONLY alternative was to go back to Dallas and vote there which seemed too close to impossible because my relatives would not tolerate that kind of whimsical behavior. I told them that it was absolutely urgent that I vote this year and all my older sister did was laugh directly into the phone like a wicked witch by her cauldron. After begging and several incentives, she said she'd think about it but there wasn't too much hope in that statement. She later said that if I really needed to vote, I would find some way to do it. Well, I took her advice into consideration and called the Brazos County Democrats. I spoke to one of the members and he told me that her suggestion wasn't the only alternative and there is a "special ballot" that I could fill out and vote but only for the national race. I thought,"Hmmm. The probability of my chances going back to Dallas were extremely limited if not at all there or I could vote and benefit Kerry's chances of BTHO of Bush." Fortunately, I decided to do the latter and will proudly wear my "Ags for Kerry" tee tomorrow!! Marylou if you read this sorry about the comment earlier but thanks for the advice and for your dependency even though you did call and said you were on your way. I love you. I have to get ready to go to work but I'll be at the polls bright and early.

What happened?!!!!!

Baaaahhh!! I went to look up the times I could vote early but that ended yesterday at 8 which was disappointing. At least when I vote on Tuesday, I'll be wearing my "Ags for Kerry" tee in this place saturated with republicans. I discovered a new movie that I want to see called Going Upriver: The Long War of John Kerry which documents his efforts as an anti-Vietnam War protester. There was this one quote that stuck while I was watching the trailor and it goes "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?".
